The flag was launched in 1981 if the country was declared a republic. The light blue colour to the flag signifies the Pacific Ocean and also represents the changeover from international domination to self-govt. The golden disk in the center is a bit off centred and symbolize the moon. Its first flag was similar to the Polish flag; a slab of whit
